Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Director - Direct Marketing Audience & Experience to lead efforts in optimizing performance, improving donor profiling and retention activities, and enhancing overall marketing effectiveness across offline channels. This role involves leveraging advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and machine learning to drive strategic insights and campaign success. The ideal candidate will oversee analytical insights related to donor lifecycle campaigns, donor behavior analysis, significance testing, and presenting results and optimization opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Manage development, planning, and implementation of activities within the assigned area to meet ALSAC’s goals and support business objectives effectively.
  • Design and execute experiments to test and measure marketing campaign effectiveness, including setting up experiments, establishing control groups, and devising A/B tests.
  • Team Development: Develop, mentor, and coach a team of professionals, guiding strategy, analysis, and communication. Foster an inclusive environment and ensure team accountability for deliverables.
  • Financial Management: Manage multi-million-dollar budgets for offline donor marketing efforts, including budgeting, forecasting, and result monitoring to optimize campaigns and predict donor behavior.
  • Analytical Insights: Use advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and machine learning to enhance donor experience and marketing effectiveness. Lead analysis of donor campaigns and behavior, and present findings for optimization.
  • Innovation and Testing: Research and implement innovative solutions to improve offline marketing approaches, transforming insights into measurable results.
  • Performance Metrics: Meet KPIs for audience categories such as new, multi-year, and planned giving donors. Establish benchmarks and leverage data to improve personalization and campaign success.
  • Direct Mail Strategy: Develop a data-driven, audience-led direct mail messaging strategy. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop offline journeys that meet acquisition and retention goals. Use machine learning to identify high-value segments and expand targeting capabilities.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work across departments to recommend solutions for workflow and operational needs, ensuring integration and success of fundraising programs. Build strong partnerships organization-wide.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Establish and enforce policies to improve operations. Operate within budget and proactively address issues, developing problem-solving skills within the team.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with vendors, partners, organizations, and volunteers, representing ALSAC and St. Jude positively.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in driving donor growth through acquisition and retention strategies, with expertise in designing statistically sound experiments.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and building successful marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to switch between analytical and creative thinking, acting as a data-driven strategist.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting large data sets and making strategic decisions.
  • Strategic yet hands-on approach.
  • Experience with audience segmentation and data management platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for internal and external relationships, with conflict resolution abilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in high-performing, data-driven teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • Preferred experience with machine learning, data mining, forecasting, and visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of direct mail list rental/exchange, print production, brand development, and postal processes.
