Job Title Insider Threat Analyst Job Description The Insider Threat Analyst is responsible for detecting, investigating, and mitigating insider threats to NIWC CSSP networks and subscriber environments. Responsibilities include user activity monitoring (UAM), behavioral analytics, risk assessments, and collaboration with counterintelligence and law enforcement to prevent data breaches, unauthorized disclosures, and sabotage by trusted insiders. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement an Insider Threat Program to identify, deter, and mitigate insider risks. Monitor and analyze user behavior on classified and unclassified government networks for suspicious activities. Utilize UAM tools such as Splunk, Forcepoint, Ekran System, and SIEM solutions to detect anomalies. Correlate security logs, behavioral analytics, and access patterns to identify potential insider threats. Investigate data exfiltration, unauthorized access, and privilege abuse to prevent theft or espionage. Conduct risk assessments on personnel, contractors, and third-party vendors. Coordinate with HR, legal, counterintelligence, and law enforcement agencies. Analyze social engineering tactics, policy violations, and suspicious financial activities. Develop and conduct Insider Threat Awareness Training. Maintain compliance with relevant DoD policies. Prepare detailed reports and risk assessments for leadership. Ensure separation of duties and accountability. Document lessons learned and contribute to process improvements. Qualifications Education / Experience Levels: Level I: High School Diploma or GED; 2 years of cybersecurity experience; Secret / Top Secret SCI clearance; 8570 IAT 2 or 3 certification. Salary: $65,200 - $97,700. Level II: High School Diploma or GED; 3 years of cybersecurity experience; Secret / Top Secret SCI clearance; 8570 IAT 2 or 3, plus CND-related certifications. Salary: $74,000 - $110,900. Level III: 5+ years with Bachelor’s or 7+ years with HS/GED; Secret / Top Secret SCI clearance; 8570 IAT 2 or 3, plus CND certifications. Salary: $89,200 - $133,800. Cybersecurity Engineer I-III Level I: Bachelor’s degree, no experience needed. Salary: $80,700 - $121,000. Level II: Bachelor’s degree, 3 years experience. Salary: $99,300 - $149,000. Level III: Master’s degree, 10 years experience. Salary: $139,700 - $209,600.
