Title: Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Specialty: Non-Clinical – Finance/Accounting
Shift: Day (5 x 8 Hours) 08:00 – 17:00

Duration: 13 weeks
Core Responsibilities
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for supporting patients’ billing inquiries, including but not limited to:
- Explanation of benefits
- Financial assistance requests
- Patient disputes
- Insurance verification
- Credit card payments
- General billing inquiries
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in healthcare billing
- Minimum 3+ years of customer service experience
- Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Understanding of medical terminology
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Handle inbound call volume while meeting call center metrics and productivity guidelines
- Work EPIC work queues as assigned by supervisor/manager
- Participate in special projects as assigned
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to handle complex internal and external inquiries
- Update and maintain accurate account information (registration, insurance, etc.)
- Provide detailed documentation for all accounts handled
- Follow up on unresolved customer-related issues
- Complete patient callbacks and correspondence in a timely manner
- Manage escalated issues professionally
- Perform basic account adjustments as needed
