Part Time Medical Receptionist

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Part Time Medical Receptionist at Gastroenterology Group of Northern New Jersey in Englewood, NJ. This role will support Englewood/Englewood Cliffs NJ.

About the Role: The Medical Receptionist 1 plays a crucial role as the first point of contact for patients and visitors at the GGNNJ Englewood facility. This position is responsible for managing front desk operations efficiently, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment that supports smooth clinical workflows. The role involves handling patient check-ins, appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate records, which directly impacts patient satisfaction and operational effectiveness. The Medical Receptionist 1 collaborates closely with medical staff to facilitate communication and coordinate patient care activities. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall quality of healthcare delivery by providing professional, courteous, and timely administrative support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
  • Experience with specific EHR software used at GGNNJ Englewood.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying personal and insurance information.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow and address any administrative issues.
  • Process patient payments and handle billing inquiries as needed.
  • Ensure the reception area is organized, clean, and stocked with necessary forms and materials.

Skills: The Medical Receptionist 1 utilizes strong organizational skills daily to manage multiple tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records accurately. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives to ensure clear and compassionate information exchange. Problem-solving skills help address scheduling conflicts and patient concerns promptly, contributing to a positive patient experience.
