Job Title: Phlebotomist

Location: San Jose, CA

Days and Hours: On-Call (no guarantee of hours)

Compensation: DOE

Employee Type: On Call/PRN

About the position:

COC Consulting is looking for a Part Time Phlebotomist in Carson City, NV. The Phlebotomist ensures the proper collection, processing, labeling, storage, and mailing of blood and urine samples to the laboratory for testing.

1. Collects patient blood and/or urine specimens using established procedures
2. Properly prepares collected specimens for testing and analysis, ensuring specimen integrity
3. Verifies urine and blood test requisitions
4. Identifies the patient before any specimen is obtained
5. Labels and documents specimens to prepare for shipment
6. Maintains daily tallies of collections performed
7. Tracks and requests laboratory and office supplies needed to fulfill duties
8. Provides site specific procedural training to new employees
9. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations; follow Universal Precautions and OSHA standards when handling specimens
10. Strictly adheres to HIPAA regulations
11. Travels to additional sites when needed
12. Performs additional job duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
2. Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency
3. Computer and technology proficient
4. Valid driver's license and car insurance
5. Reliable transportation
6. Ability to pass a background check
7. A proven ability to handle ambiguity in the absence of defined systems and processes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK CONDITIONS:

1. Frequently required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20 pounds
2. Frequently required to speak and hear
3. Frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time and bend, stretch, and stoop
4. Frequently required to use all types of vision, such as close vision and computer vision
5. Frequently required to use hand dexterity for use of standard office and clinical equipment
6. Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and/or extended hours as Company dictates
7. Occasional exposure to various temperatures
8. Frequent exposure to blood and bodily fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
