Pastor Position
First Congregational Church of Bangor, Michigan
First Congregational Church of Bangor, an Independent Congregational Church with a rich history of faith and community service, is prayerfully seeking a part-time pastor. Our lead pastor of many years is retiring, and we are entering a new season of hope and renewal. We desire a leader who will guide us spiritually, nurture our congregation, and help us grow as a welcoming place for people of all ages to encounter the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

● Located in the small, friendly town of Bangor (population ~2,000), just 11 miles from Lake Michigan and 25 miles from Kalamazoo.
● A church with deep roots in the community, ready to reach new generations with Christ-centered ministries.
● Currently blessed with a close-knit congregation who are eager to support and partner with their pastor in ministry.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a pastor who is:
● Grounded in Biblically-based teaching and preaching, bringing the Word to life in Sunday sermons and personal interactions.
● Passionate about reaching both youth and families, while also caring for the spiritual needs of older members.
● Warm, relational, and approachable—a person who loves people and builds meaningful connections.
● Open to someone just beginning their ministry journey (fresh from seminary) or a seasoned pastor looking for a meaningful part-time role.
Responsibilities
● Lead worship and deliver Christ-centered sermons (one service weekly with occassional special services and events throughout the year).
● Provide spiritual guidance, encouragement, and occasional pastoral care.
● Help foster outreach and discipleship opportunities, with a focus on youth engagement
and intergenerational ministry.
● Administrative duties are minimal - we are looking for a shepherd, not a manager.
Position Details
● Part-time: Approximately 2–3 days per week, just a few hours per day.
● Compensation: Negotiable.
● Flexible schedule, with room for additional outside employment or ministry.
