Job Description

Overview

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) seeks an experienced Salesforce Administrator to manage and optimize our Salesforce environment, ensuring reliable, well-organized systems to support the ICCTs transportation policy work globally. This role focuses on maintaining data integrity, streamlining workflows, and creating integrations between Salesforce and other organizational tools. As a key member of the ICCTs Development Team, the Salesforce Administrator will serve as the primary steward of our donor and stakeholder relationship data while supporting reporting needs across all departments.

Because of the ICCTs growth and expansion, we reached a critical point where our Salesforce instance requires dedicated professional expertise to unlock its potential and optimize our use of the system. While the ICCTs Development team has been managing basic Salesforce functions, we now need someone who can implement best practices, resolve accumulated data issues, and create and manage systematic processes to support our continued growth. This position will help the ICCT get maximum value from its investment in Salesforce by enabling more sophisticated donor analysis, streamlined grant management, and reliable reporting that drives better organizational decision-making. This is a full-time position based in our Washington, DC or San Francisco office and will report to the Senior Director of Communications & Development.

Key Functions

Data Management & Hygiene

  • Maintain data quality standards including deduplication, field validation, and regular data cleanup.
  • Monitor and resolve data integrity issues, ensuring accurate donor, grant, and stakeholder records.
  • Implement and enforce data entry protocols and user training to maintain data quality.
  • Conduct regular audits of database health and implement corrective measures.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Design and generate custom reports and dashboards for various ICCT teams and senior managers.
  • Create automated reporting workflows to track fundraising metrics, grant compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build and maintain standard report templates for recurring organizational needs.
  • Support ad-hoc data analysis requests and provide insights on organizational trends.

System Configuration & Integration

  • Configure Salesforce fields, workflows, and automation to align with the ICCTs operational processes.
  • Set up and maintain integrations with third-party tools (e.g., Asana, Adaptive, SharePoint, MailChimp, etc.).
  • Implement and troubleshoot app installations from the Salesforce AppExchange to extend functionality.
  • In collaboration with the ICCTs IT Team, manage user permissions, profiles, and security settings across the organization.

User Support & Training

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Salesforce users across the ICCT.
  • Develop and deliver training for new users and feature rollouts.
  • Create and maintain user documentation and best practice guides.
  • Serve as primary liaison with Salesforce support when advanced technical assistance is needed.

System Optimization

  • Monitor system performance and storage limits, recommending solutions for optimization.
  • Evaluate and recommend new features, apps, or process improvements.
  • Plan and execute system updates, releases, and migrations with minimal disruption.
  • Maintain backup and recovery protocols.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or 8 years equivalent work experience.
  • 35 years direct Salesforce administration experience.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification (ADM 201).
  • Experience with Salesforce reporting, dashboards, and data management.
  • Experience setting up integrations with common business tools (e.g., Asana, email platforms, document management systems).
  • Experience with data import/export processes and data quality management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in nonprofit sector, particularly with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).
  • Advanced Salesforce certifications (ADM 211, Platform App Builder).
  • Experience with grant management and donor database best practices.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and development operations.
  • Familiarity with international data privacy regulations (GDPR compliance).
  • Experience with Salesforce Lightning interface and workflow automation.

This full-time position can be based in our Washington, D.C. or San Francisco office and has a salary of $85,100 (DC) or $93,600 (SF). We offer an excellent benefits package including health insurance, paid vacation and family leave, a 401k plan with 7% employer contribution, hybrid/remote office flexibility, professional development funds, and other benefits.
