Job Description Title: Senior Medical Editor Location: Remote About Us: Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Vera's lead product candidate is atacicept, a fully humanized fusion protein self-administered at home as a subcutaneous weekly injection that blocks both B-cell Activating Factor (BAFF) and A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL), which stimulate B cells to produce autoantibodies contributing to certain autoimmune diseases, including IgA nephropathy. Vera is also considering evaluating the role of atacicept in other immunologic disorders. Additionally, Vera is developing VT-109, a novel, next-generation dual BAFF/APRIL inhibitor in preclinical development, and MAU868, a monoclonal antibody designed to neutralize infection with BK virus, a polyomavirus that can have devastating consequences in certain settings such as kidney transplant. Position Summary: Reporting to the Senior Director, Medical Writing, the Senior Medical Editor will be a key contributor to Medical Writing for data source verification, document QC, and document editing of all of Vera's drug development programs. This may include regulatory, clinical, nonclinical, and CMC documents such as: CTD module summaries, briefing documents, protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study reports (CSRs), and other cross-functional deliverables. Responsibilities: Performs data integrity review and source verification of assigned documents to ensure accuracy Quality-checks assigned documents for consistency, grammar, and style, following Vera style guidelines as well as established medical writing internal checklists and best practices Drives the review and approval process of documents that require Medical Writing editorial support Collaborate with the lead medical writer on the document editorial process Manages assigned projects according to Vera Standard Operating Procedures and standards in a timeline-driven environment Contributes to the development of process improvement tools and the development or revision of internal policies and procedures affecting editorial work Represents the editorial subfunction in Medical Writing on study teams and in cross-departmental project teams as needed Collaborates closely with the Medical Writing group to shape key department goals and objectives regarding editorial strategy, timelines, and processes Works collaboratively with Regulatory Operations regarding formatting and source findings. Performs other duties as needed Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the life or clinical sciences is preferred, or English/journalism 3+ years' experience copyediting, data integrity review, and/or relevant publishing experience is strongly preferred Experience in a CRO or pharma/biotech company is strongly preferred Excellent attention to detail-including strong copyediting, data integrity review, accuracy, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, presentation, project management, and team-oriented skills-is required Excellent grammatical and communication skills, both written and oral, are required. Extensive familiarity with the AMA style guide is strongly preferred Ability to work with minimal supervision on multiple assignments with set deadlines is required. For this role, the anticipated base pay range begins at $65,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
