Location & Work Arrangement

• City, State: Richmond, Virginia
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Onsite as needed).
• Contract: This is a Contract position.
• Mode of Interview: Either Phone or In Person.
• Note: Candidate must physically reside within the US and agree to work and interview onsite as needed.

Key Responsibilities and Focus Areas

Documentation Creation and Lifecycle

• Translation: Translate complex concepts into clear, concise, and accessible language for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Agile Collaboration: Collaborate with developers, product managers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within an Agile development team structure.
• Deliverables: Develop and maintain various technical and user documentation, including, but not limited to: User Guides, API Documents, and Release Notes.
• Project Management: Manage multiple documentation projects effectively and meet established deadlines.

Standards, Tools, and Technical Acumen

• Version Control: Maintain strong version control and documentation review practices, utilizing Git or similar systems.
• Compliance: Ensure documentation complies with agency standards, accessibility requirements, and formatting guidelines.
• Tool Proficiency (5+ Years): Expert use of MS Word, Google Docs, Confluence, and tools like Adobe Acrobat/SnagIT for visuals.
• Technical Readability: Required familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and software architecture concepts. Must possess the ability to read code snippets.

Required & Desired Expertise

Minimum Experience

Technical Writing

5 Years (Required)

Experience creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation (manuals, SOPs, guides, etc.)

Methodology

5 Years (Required)

Understanding of Scrum/Agile methodology.

Tools/Platforms

5 Years (Required)

Expert in Confluence, MS Word, Google Docs. Experience with Git (or similar version control) and documentation platforms like GitBook.

Technical Stack

5 Years (Required)

Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and ability to read code snippets.

SME Interaction

5 Years (Required)

Ability to interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and distill complex information.

Govt. Standards (Desired)

5 Years (Desired)

Experience with government documentation and standards and accessibility compliance.

Education

5 Years (Required)

Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.
