Genie Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Dickinson, North Dakota.

Specialty: MedSurg / Peds RN

 

Shift & Schedule:

• 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekends as needed
• First to float
• 36 guaranteed hours/week
• 13-week contract

Unit Information:

• Department: MedSurg/Pediatrics
• 17 beds total (14 inpatient, 3 observation)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:
  • Days: 1:4
  • Nights: 1:5
• Support staff:
  • 2 nurse aides on days (ratio 2:15)
  • 1 nurse aide on nights
• Charge Nurse: Present each shift, but also takes an assignment
• Floating: May float to ED or ICU to cover 1:1s if needed

Patient Population:

• Mix of adults and pediatrics
• Common diagnoses: UTI, pneumonia, COPD, altered mental status
• Pediatrician on call (not in house 24/7)
• No vents in unit; occasional BiPAP managed primarily by RT

Medications/Drips:

• Nurses are not required to titrate drips
• Common drips: Electrolytes, hypertensive meds (set rate only), occasional diuretics

Technology/Systems:

• Charting: Meditech
• Telemetry monitored by ICU; MSP nurses apply tele to patients

Requirements:

• Certifications: BLS & PALS required
• Minimum of 1 year recent RN experience (pref. MedSurg/Peds)
• Must be clean-shaven if fit testing requires it (no exceptions for PAPR if failing due to facial hair)
• Radius rule: Cannot live within 50 miles
• RTO: 7 days or less per 13-week contract; no additional RTO after submission

Orientation:

• Typically 1 full 12-hour orientation shift (night or day depending on assignment)

Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided)

Other Notes:

• Teamwork, communication, and willingness to ask questions are highly valued

• Documentation can be tricky; attention to detail is important
